Obtaining Your Medical Card
People’s Choice is not a certification center and does not have physicians on staff. However we can happily point you in the right direction and walk you through this difficult process. To begin the process of obtaining a medical marijuana card you must first talk to your doctor about whether medical marijuana is right for you. If you do not have a primary physician you will need to find a medical marijuana certification center near you. Once you have made an appointment and agreed medical marijuana is right for you, you and your doctor must fill out an application issued by the State of Michigan. You may print and fill out the application yourself but you will still require a Doctor’s recommendation. Click here to learn more.
•Make sure after you see the doctor and you get ready to send all your documents in with your check that you make copies of everything.
•We suggest 3 copies (1 for your wallet, 1 to keep at home and 1 to keep in your vehicle. Send only Original Documents to the State)
•You WILL NOT be able to get medicine until you have passed the required waiting period.
•If you are sending a check, you must have a copy front and back of your cancelled check that shows the date the State of Michigan cancelled the check.
•If you have a money order make sure you can contact the company to see when the state cashed it. There should be a 1-800 number on the money order receipt that you can call and check to see when the money order was cashed. If you get a money order from the post office or a bank it’s not easy to get that information, so if you decide to do it that way please make sure that you have a way to find out when the money order was cashed.
•If you are having a Clinic help you with all your paperwork make sure you have everything because they often do not tell you everything or tell you wrong info.
•After you have sent everything off to the state you will now wait to see when the state cashes your check (Your actual card will take quite some time to get back approximately 5-6 months).
•When you find out the date the check was cashed then the next day becomes day 1, count 21 BUSINESS days (EFFECTIVE April 1st, 2013) and then you are able to go to most clubs, unless they require a card.
